Description

Thrombospondin 1 (TSP-1) is a glycoprotein that is released from platelet ?-granules in response to thrombin stimulation and is also a transient component of the extracellular matrix in developing and repairing tissues. TSP-1 is a subunit of a disulfide-linked homotrimeric protein. TSP-1 is an adhesive glycoprotein that mediates cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix interactions. TSP-1 can bind to fibrinogen, fibronectin, laminin, type V collagen and integrins alpha-V/beta-1. This protein has been shown to play roles in platelet aggregation, angiogenesis, and tumorigenesis. Medical interest in thrombospondin-1 focuses on its roles in haemostasis and its effects on angiogenesis. This antibody was produced from a rabbit immunized with this peptide conjugated with KLH. The IgG fraction was purified from rabbit serum by Protein G affinity chromatography.
