A new release of Antibodypedia is launched! The submission and scoring systems have been updated to allow for adherence to newly proposed guidelines for antibody target binding validation.

The ad hoc International Working Group on Antibody Validation (IWGAV) recently published a paper in Nature Methods where five conceptual pillars for antibody validation are suggested1.

  • Genetic strategies. The protein is knocked out using genetic methods.
  • Orthogonal strategies. An antibody-independent method is used.
  • Independent antibody strategies. Several antibodies are used.
  • Expression of tagged proteins. The target protein is tagged and analyzed.
  • Mass spectrometry. The target protein is captured by an antibody and analyzed.

In the new version of Antibodypedia we now allow companies and users to submit data according to these guidelines. These criteria are not firm, but you need to be transparent and submit your primary data. The guideline criteria are to be discussed by stakeholders at the Asilomar meeting2.
