- Morphological features and characterization of ADSCs. Our mesenchymal stromal cells had a spindle-shaped, fibroblast-like morphology, and demonstrated plastic adherent properties in culture. Cells underwent differentiation in (a) chondrocytes stained by Alcian blue; (c) Adipocytes showing some lipid vesicles stained by Oil red; and (e) osteoblasts, showing calcium phosphate stained with Alizarin red, after 3 weeks of induction. The negative controls, which received only the standard culture medium at the same time as those induced are showing for comparison (b,d,f). (g) Histograms of flow cytometry showing that these cells were homogeneously positive for mesenchymal markers: CD44, and CD105; but negative for hematopoietic markers: CD14, CD34, and CD45.
