Description

Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptors 1 and 2, termed VPAC1 and VPAC2, are members of the 7 transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor family. Both receptors bind to VIP and pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) . Interaction of VIP and VPAC1 inhibit megakaryocyte proliferation and induces proplatelet formation. VPAC1 is expressed in subset of mononuclear cells and it is highly expressed in some lung adenocarcinoma.
