- Description
- Peroxisomal acyl-coenzyme A oxidase 1 (AOX), also known as, Palmitoyl-CoA oxidase or Straight-chain acyl-CoA oxidase (SCOX), and encoded by the gene name(s), ACOX1 or ACOX, catalyzes the desaturation of acyl-CoAs to 2-trans-enoyl-CoAs. ACOX1 donates electrons directly to molecular oxygen, thereby producing hydrogen peroxide. ACOX1 is localized to the peroxisome and is widely expressed. High expression of isoform 1 and isoform 2 are detected in testis. Isoform 1 is expressed at higher levels than isoform 2 in liver and kidney while isoform 2 levels are higher in brain, lung, muscle, white adipose tissue and testis. Levels are almost equal in heart. Mutations in ACOX1 result in pseudoneonatal adrenoleukodystrophy, a disease that is characterized by accumulation of very long chain fatty acids.

- Storage
- Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance. Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.
