- 1 Fig BCL11B protein expression in T-ALL. A normal bone marrow control showed scattered reactive T cells with a heterogenous BCL11B staining pattern by immunohistochemistry (A, B). The haematoxylin and eosin staining of tissues and their corresponding BCL11B immunohistochemical stains in representative cases of T-ALL/LBL (C, D, ETP-ALL; E, F, thymic T-ALL/LBL). There are scattered small T cells in ETP-ALL cases in the background serving as internal positive controls (D). The percentage of cases with positive BCL11B expression was significantly lower in the patients with ETP-ALL compared to patients with other T-ALL/LBL subtypes (G), while no significant difference was found among the early, thymic and mature T-ALL/LBL groups (H). The median percentage of BCL11B-positive cells (at any scale) was lowest in ETP-ALL and higher in thymic and mature T-ALL/LBL (I, J). The H-score of BCL11B staining differed significantly between ETP-ALL and other T-ALL/LBL groups (K) and among the early, thymic and mature T-ALL/LBL (L). (T-)ALL, (T-cell) acute lymphoblastic leukaemia; BCL11B, B-cell lymphoma/leukaemia 11B; ETP, early T-cell precursor; LBL, lymphoblastic lymphoma.
