Description
Mouse Interferon regulatory factor 7 or IRF-7 (UniProt P70434) is encoded by the murine irf7 gene (Entrez Gene ID 54123). IFN-ÎÛ-induced gene activations are mediated by both signal transducers and activators of transcription (STATs) and interferon regulatory factors (IRFs). STAT1 dimer, for example, stimulates immediate transcription by binding IFN-ÎÛ-activated site (GAS) sequence in the promoter region of target genes. While a delayed, secondary transcription activation is observed among IFN-ÎÛ target genes containing an IFN regulatory factors (IRF) binding site within the interferon-stimulated response element (ISRE) sequence. Irf7 transcription is shown to be activated by STAT1 and IRF9 in response to type II interferon (IFN) IFN-ÎÛ stimulation in MEF cultures. The expressed IRF7 protein then further cooperates with STAT1 and IRF1 to stimulate the expression of a subset of IFN-ÎÛ-induced STAT1 target genes.
