- Description
- Fructose-bisphosphate aldolase A, also known as, Lung cancer antigen NY-LU-1 or Muscle-type aldolase, and encoded by the gene name(s), ALDOA or ALDA, plays an essential role in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. ALDOA localizes to the cytoplasm. In skeletal muscle, ALDOA accumulates around the M line and within the I band, colocalizing with FBP2 on both sides of the Z line in the absence of Ca2+. Mutations in ALDOA have been associated with Glycogen storage disease 12.
