Description
DNA damage-binding protein 1 (also known as DDBa, DDB p127 subunit, DNA damage-binding protein 1, DNA damage-binding protein a, HBV X-associated protein 1, XPE-binding factor, UV-damaged DNA-binding factor, UV-damaged DNA-binding protein 1, UV-DDB 1, XAP-1, Xeroderma pigmentosum group E-complementing protein, XPCe, XPE-BF) is encoded by the DDB1 (also known as DDBA, XAP1, XPCE, XPE, XPE-BF, UV-DDB1) gene (Entrez Gene ID 1642) in human. DDBa corresponds to the large subunit (p127) of the heterodimeric DNA damage-binding (DDB) complex that binds to DNA following UV damage, and functions in nucleotide-excision repair. Defective activity of DDB complex causes the repair defect in patients with xeroderma pigmentosum complementation group E (XPE), an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by photosensitivity and early onset of carcinomas. DDBa also functions as an adaptor protein and mediate substrate recruitment to the cullin 4 (CUL4) ubiquitin E3 ligase complex for ubiquitination.

Storage
Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance. Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.
