- Product name
- Synuclein Ï« (E123) polyclonal antibody
- Antibody type
- Polyclonal
- Antigen
- Synthetic peptide, corresponding to amino acids 100-150 of Human Synuclein-Ï«.
- Description
- The synuclein family members, including Ï«-synuclein (also designated NACP for non-ÉÇ amyloid component) and ÉÇ-synuclein, are predominantly expressed in the brain and are speculated to be involved in synaptic regulation and neuronal plasticity. Ï«-synuclein is localized to neuronal cell bodies and synapses. Ï«-synuclein was first identified as a component of Alzheimer£ªs disease amyloid plaques. Abnormal platelet function in Alzheimer£ªs disease has been demonstrated. During megakaryocytic differentiation Ï«-synuclein was found to be up-regulated, while ÉÇ-synuclein is down-regulated, indicating that coordinate expression of synucleins may be important during hematopoetic cell differentiation. A mutant form of Ï«-synuclein has been found in patients with early onset Parkinson£ªs disease.
