Description

Cinpanemab (also known as BIIB054) is an investigational human monoclonal antibody that was developed for the potential treatment of Parkinson's disease. It specifically targets a pathological form of a protein that is central to the disease's progression. The drug was designed based on the alpha-synuclein hypothesis, which posits that the aggregation and spread of misfolded alpha-synuclein in the brain drives neurodegeneration. Cinpanemab was evaluated in late-stage clinical trials (Phase II) with the goal of slowing disease progression, but its development was ultimately discontinued after the trial failed to meet its primary efficacy endpoints.
