Description

Galiximab (development code IDEC-114) is an investigational, chimeric (primate/human) monoclonal IgG1 antibody developed for the treatment of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). It functions as a targeted immunotherapy against a specific antigen on malignant B cells. Galiximab is designed to bind to its target on the surface of lymphoma cells. Its proposed anti-tumor mechanisms include antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and potentially complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), whereby it recruits and activates immune effector cells (such as natural killer cells and macrophages) to attack and eliminate the bound cancer cells.
