- Description
- Calsequestrin 1 (also known as Calmitin, Calmitine, or Calsequestrin, skeletal muscle isoform) is encoded by the CASQ1 (also known as CASQ, PDIB1) gene (Entrez Gene ID 844) in human. Calsequestrin 1 corresponds to the form of calsequestrin in skeletal muscle, while calsequestrin 2 corresponds to the cardiac form encoded by the CASQ2 gene. Calsequestrins function as a luminal sarcoplasmic reticulum calcium sensors in cardiac and skeletal muscle cells. Calsequestrin 1 is absent in patients with Duchenne and Becker types of muscular dystrophy.

- Storage
- Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance. Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.
