Description

Lokivetmab is a caninized monoclonal antibody specifically developed for veterinary use in dogs. It targets and neutralizes canine interleukin-31 (IL-31), a key pruritic (itch-inducing) cytokine. By binding to IL-31, lokivetmab blocks its interaction with the IL-31 receptor complex on sensory neurons and immune cells, thereby inhibiting the signaling pathway that triggers pruritus. It is approved (under the brand name Cytopoint?) for the treatment of canine atopic dermatitis, providing long-lasting relief from itching and associated inflammation with a monthly subcutaneous injection.
