Description
Gosuranemab is an investigational, humanized monoclonal IgG4 antibody developed for the treatment of neurodegenerative tauopathies, most notably Alzheimer's disease (AD) and progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). It functions as a targeted immunotherapeutic agent designed to promote the clearance of pathological tau protein from the brain. Gosuranemab is engineered to bind specifically to the N-terminal region of extracellular tau, particularly focusing on forms that may be involved in the cell-to-cell propagation of pathology. By binding to these forms, the antibody aims to facilitate their clearance, primarily via microglial phagocytosis, thereby aiming to reduce the spread of tau pathology and potentially slow neurodegeneration.
