Description

Denosumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody used to treat conditions involving excessive bone resorption. Marketed under the brand names Prolia? and Xgeva?, it is approved for multiple indications: postmenopausal osteoporosis, bone loss from hormone ablation in prostate or breast cancer, giant cell tumor of bone, hypercalcemia of malignancy, and to prevent skeletal-related events (such as fractures) in patients with bone metastases from solid tumors. It is administered via subcutaneous injection and works by potently inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone breakdown.
