- Description
- Description: The monoclonal antibody CF-145 recognizes human S100A8. S100A8, also known as migration inhibitory factor-related protein 8 (MRP-8) or Calgranulin-A, is a calcium binding protein and member of the S100 family of proteins. S100A8 is expressed by neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, granulocytes, and epithelial cells during dermatoses, such as psoriasis. S100A8 forms a heterodimer with S100A9, which together is known as calprotectin. S100A8 has antimicrobial and pro-apoptotic properties and is a pro-inflammatory mediator in acute and chronic inflammation. Levels of S100A8 are elevated in patients with various inflammatory disorders such as cystic fibrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and chronic bronchitis. Upregulation of S100A8 is also observed in many tumors, including skin, breast, colon, pancreatic, and ovarian cancers.
