Description

This antibody neutralizes human IFN-alpha receptor, interacting with the extracellular domain. It binds to human IFN-alpha receptor with high affinity and blocks biological action of Type I IFNs. To measure bioactivity, interferon was titrated with the use of a cytopathic effect inhibition assay, where one neutralization unit is the amount of antiserum required to neutralize one unit of human interferon alpha to a 50% endpoint. In this antiviral assay, approximately one unit/mL of interferon was necessary to produce a cytopathic effect of 50%. Purity is >95% by SDS-PAGE and endotoxin level

Neutralization antibody testing demonstrates the specificity of an antibody through a correlation between antibody binding and the activity of the target. Neutralization of IFNAR2 is shown by the decrease in expression of the AIM2 mRNA, an interferon-inducible protein, in the presence of IFNAR2 antibody (Product # 213851, final concentration: 10 µg/mL).
