Description
Edrecolomab (development code 17-1A, generic name Panorex) is a murine (mouse-derived) monoclonal antibody of the IgG2a subclass. It was developed as one of the earliest investigational targeted therapies for colorectal cancer. Its proposed mechanism of action was to directly bind to tumor cells and induce an immune response against them, primarily through antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). Edrecolomab gained historical significance for being among the first monoclonal antibodies to enter large-scale phase III clinical trials in oncology, marking an important milestone in the field of cancer immunotherapy.
