Description

CD24 or heat stable antigen (HSA) is a heavily glycosylated 35-45 kDa glycosyl phosphatidylinositol (GPI)-linked surface mucin that may play a role in the regulation of B-cell proliferation and maturation. It is expressed on the surface of early B cells, B cells (but not plasma cells), granulocytes, B leukemia and lymphoma cells, chronic myeloid leukemia cells. Other cellular reactivity is seen on hepatocellular carcinoma, small-cell lung carcinoma, Wilms tumor, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. CD24 is a marker of B cell malignancies and carcinomas.
