- Monoclonal
- Antigen
- Purified recombinant fragment (a.a. 2-149) of human AKT2 expressed in E. coli.
- Description
- AKT (Protein kinase B, PKB) is a serine/threonine kinase that plays a key in regulating cell survival, insulin signaling, angiogenesis, and tumor formation. There are three isoforms of AKT- AKT1, 2, and 3, which are also known as PKBα, β, and γ). Increasing evidence suggests that AKT1, 2, and 3 plays an unique role in breast cancer initiation and progression. AKT2 is amplified or overexpressed in cancer with a higher frequency than those found with AKT1. AKT2 is also closely linked to Type II diabetes and is a pivotal player in the Phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase/Akt/Mammalian target of rapamycin (PI3K/mTOR) signaling axis. The deregulation of AKT2 has been associated with acquisition of stem cell-like properties, responsible for invasiveness and tumor progression, metastatic spread, and chemoresistance.

- Experimental details
- Western blot analysis of cell lysates from HeLa (lane 1), Jurkat (lane 2), and NIH3T3 (lane 3). Purified anti-AKT2 antibody (clone P81B6 ) was used and then was followed by HRP anti-mouse IgG antibody. β-actin antibody (clone poly6221) was used as a loading control.
