Description

Emibetuzumab (development code LY2875358) is an investigational, humanized bivalent monoclonal antibody developed for the treatment of solid tumors. It functions as a dual-action antagonist of the mesenchymal-epithelial transition factor (MET) receptor. Unlike simple competitive inhibitors, emibetuzumab is engineered to achieve two key effects: first, it blocks the binding of the natural MET ligand, hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), preventing receptor activation; and second, it induces the internalization and degradation of the MET receptor from the cancer cell surface. This two-pronged approach aims to achieve a more profound and sustained suppression of the oncogenic MET signaling pathway.
