Description

Carlumab is an investigational fully human monoclonal antibody that was developed as a potential therapy for cancer and fibrotic diseases. It functions by targeting and neutralizing a key cytokine involved in tumor progression, inflammation, and tissue scarring. Clinical trials explored its use in conditions such as castration-resistant prostate cancer, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), and pancreatic cancer, often in combination with standard chemotherapy. However, its development was ultimately discontinued after phase II studies failed to demonstrate sufficient clinical efficacy in improving overall survival or other primary endpoints.
