Description

Fc receptor-like proteins (FcRLs) are a family of molecules homologous to the receptors of the Ig Fc portion. They structurally belong to the Ig superfamily. Human FCRL genes are located in the 1q12-23 chromosomal region. FcRL6 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein and is primarily expressed on NK cells and a subset of T cells (mainly CD8+ T cells). Its expression can be upregulated in the diseases characterized by chronic immune stimulation, such as HIV infection. FcRL6 has a consensus ITIM or a noncanonical ITAM and can be tyrosine phosphorylated. The ligands and functions of this molecule still remain unclear.
