Description

Cetuximab is a chimeric (mouse/human) monoclonal antibody used as a targeted therapy for certain types of cancer. Marketed under the brand name Erbitux?, it is approved for the treatment of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN) and KRAS wild-type, metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). It can be used in combination with radiation therapy for locally advanced SCCHN, with chemotherapy for recurrent or metastatic SCCHN and mCRC, or as a monotherapy in patients who have failed prior treatments. Cetuximab works by inhibiting the signaling pathway that drives tumor cell growth and proliferation.
