- Description
- Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome Protein and SCAR Homolog (WASH) is a group of nucleation promoting factors that belongs to the WASP family. WASH-1 is evolutionarily conserved and is widely expressed in human tissues. It is located on endosome membranes and plays critical roles in the recruitment and activation of Arp2/3 in order to initiate actin polymerization. Mutations in the Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome gene is the cause of Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome and X-linked neutropenia.
