- Product name
- Ceruloplasmin antibody
- Antibody type
- Polyclonal
- Description
- Precipitating polyclonal rabbit antiserum to human alpha-2 ceruloplasmin. Alpha-2 ceruloplasmin is copper containing alpha-2 glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 160,000. Its mean concentration in plasma of adults is 32 mg/100ml. Elevated levels are observed in pregnant women, in patients with infectious diseases and the nephritic syndrome. More than 90% of the plasma copper is bound to this protein. Ceruloplasmin is isolated from pooled human serum by sequential precipitation and purified by ion exchange chromatography and affinity chromatography. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.

- Storage
- Storage: The lyophilized antiserum is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at +4°C; prolonged storage at or below -20°C. Dilutions may be prepared by adding phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance of the antiserum. Diluted antiserum should be stored at +4°C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day
