Description

Ontamalimab (also known as SHP-647 or PF-00547659) is an investigational, fully human monoclonal antibody that targets mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1), a cell-surface glycoprotein expressed on endothelial cells in the gut-associated lymphoid tissue. By binding to MAdCAM-1, ontamalimab blocks its interaction with the integrin ¦Á4¦Â7 on lymphocytes, thereby inhibiting the recruitment of inflammatory immune cells (particularly T cells) to the intestinal mucosa.
