- Etaracizumab is a humanized monoclonal IgG1 antibody developed as an anti-angiogenic therapy for the treatment of solid tumors. It functions as a selective integrin antagonist, specifically designed to block a key receptor involved in new blood vessel formation (angiogenesis) and tumor cell migration. By binding with high affinity to its target integrin on the surface of proliferating endothelial cells and some tumor cells, etaracizumab inhibits their interaction with extracellular matrix proteins. This blockade disrupts critical signaling pathways necessary for endothelial cell survival, migration, and capillary tube formation, thereby starving the tumor of its blood supply and potentially inhibiting its growth and spread.
