Description
Intetumumab (development code CNTO-95) is an investigational, fully human monoclonal IgG1 antibody developed for the treatment of solid tumors. It functions as a pan-integrin inhibitor, specifically targeting the alpha-v (¦Áv) integrin family. By binding with high affinity, intetumumab blocks the activity of multiple integrins containing the ¦Áv subunit, including ¦Áv¦Â3, ¦Áv¦Â5, and ¦Áv¦Â6. These integrins are key receptors that mediate cell adhesion to the extracellular matrix (ECM) and transduce signals regulating cell survival, proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis. The blockade of these pathways by intetumumab aims to inhibit tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastasis.
